On September 4th President Alberto Fenández, through Decree 721/2020, established the workplace quota for tansvestite, transgender and transexual people in the national public service, guaranteeing that at least 1% of positions will be filled by the above mentioned, if they meet the necessary requirements for the position.
This measure is in line with international commitments assumed by Argentina with regard to the protection of human rights. It is also an initiative which seeks to transform the structural patterns of inequality which perpetuate the exclusion of transvestite, transsexual and transgender people.
Through this legislation, Argentina puts itself once again at the forefront of the expansion and protection of rights of the LGBTI community, promoting equality and dignity for those that are in a situation of greater vulnerability in order to build a society which is more just and free of discrimination.
