Argentina’s “Programa Sur” is a translation support grants programme for publishers that aims to promote and strengthen the publishing of Argentine works in foreign languages.
The Programme, launched in 2009, is designed to foster a desire to discover works of Argentine literature. It awards grants to cover all or part of the cost of translation and publication of the works of Argentine authors.
Since its inception, the Programme has awarded grants for more than 1,735 works translated into 53 languages in 58 countries.
New applications are normally accepted until late August, and approved works must be published before end of November the following year. During 2026, considering the strategic needs identified from years of experience, support is anticipated for works related to the Social and Human Sciences (such as essays, literary criticism, philosophy, sociology of culture, etc.), poetry, graphic novel, and chronicles.
For available titles for translation, you may consult the Argentina Key Titles project, which is an online bilingual English/Spanish catalogue of literary titles that embody Argentine bibliodiversity. The catalogue is available at the following link: https://argentinakeytitles.org/en/
