We were very proud to hold the presentation ceremony for the “Raices” and “Leloir” awards given by the Argentine Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation to distinguished scientists residing abroad who have made contributions to strengthening the Argentine scientific system and the bonds of international cooperation.

The “Raices” award, given to Argentine scientists residing abroad, was awarded to Dr. Victor Sadras who currently leads the team of Crop Ecophysiology at the South Australian R&D Institute and conducts research focused on the adaptation of crops to environmental stresses.

The “Leloir” award, given to foreign scientists who have worked to strengthen Argentine scientific and technological capacities, was awarded to Dr. Germán Spangenberg (Uruguay), who is currently Head of Agriculture Victoria Research for Agriculture Victoria. His research looks at applied systems biology in plants and he has demonstrated international scientific leadership in the field of plant genetics, genomics and biotechnology.
