On the 200th anniversary of the raising of the Argentine flag in the Malvinas, President Alberto Fernández headed the first meeting of the National Council of Affairs Relative to the Malvinas, South Georgia, and South Sandwich Islands and the Corresponding Maritime and Insular Spaces, composed of the Head of State himself, together with Foreign Minister Felipe Solá, Secretary Daniel Filmus and a wide range of representatives from the main political forces, from the academic and scientific fields, from the area of international law, and from former Malvinas combatants, and has the Nobel Peace Prize, Adolfo Pérez Esquivel, as an Honorary Member.

A postage stamp commemorating the bicentennial of the first raising of the Argentine flag in the Malvinas was presented

On the eve of the commemoration of the bicentennial of the first raising of the Argentine flag in the Malvinas Islands, the issuance of the Argentine Postal Service postage stamp “200 years of the first raising of the Argentine flag in the Malvinas Islands” was officially presented in an act that took place in the San Martín Palace of the Foreign Ministry and was attended by Foreign Minister Felipe Solá; the Secretary of the Malvinas, Antarctica and South Atlantic, Daniel Filmus, and the president of the Argentine Postal Service, Vanesa Piesciorovski.

The teams of the Professional Football League joined the commemoration of the bicentennial of the first raising of the Argentine flag in the Malvinas

The G77 plus China strongly supported Argentina in the Malvinas Question and in its sovereignty over natural resources

During the 44th Annual Meeting of Ministers of Foreign Affairs, held virtually, the Group of 77 plus China issued a Ministerial Declaration in which it supports the resumption of negotiations between the Argentine Republic and the United Kingdom on the Question of the Malvinas Islands and it once again recognizes the right of our country to “take legal action” against “unauthorized hydrocarbon exploration and exploitation activities” in the archipelago area.

Argentina and Chile once again presented the joint proposal for a Marine Protected Area (MPA) for the Western Antarctic Peninsula within the framework of the Commission for the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources (CCAMLR), whose virtual sessions were held with the participation of diplomats and scientists from the Argentine Foreign Ministry.

Cooperation agreement with the University of Buenos Aires

The Latin American Federation of Cities, Municipalities and Associations of Local Governments expressed its support for Argentina in the Malvinas Question

The Latin American Federation of Cities, Municipalities and Associations of Local Governments (FLACMA in the Spanish acronym) reaffirmed the legitimate rights of the Argentine Republic in the sovereignty dispute with the United Kingdom regarding the Question of the Malvinas Islands through a declaration that was unanimously approved within the framework of its Ordinary General Assembly.

The Commission for Dialogue on Malvinas was established in Japan

In October we created the Commission for Dialogue on Malvinas in Japan and organized its first meeting at the Argentine Embassy in Tokyo, with the aim to start working to give greater visibility to the Question of the Malvinas Islands and promote compliance with the Resolutions of the United Nations and other international forums that call for the resumption of negotiations between Argentina and the United Kingdom in order to find a peaceful and definitive solution to the sovereignty dispute.
