The Malvinas National Council ratified the commitment to contribute to the strengthening of State policies
Statement issued on August 20, 2021
The members of the National Council reaffirm our commitment to contribute to the strengthening of State policies that allow us to comply with the provisions of our National Constitution in its first transitory provision: "The Argentine Nation ratifies its legitimate and indefeasible sovereignty over the Malvinas Islands, South Georgias Islands and South Sandwich Islands, and the corresponding maritime and insular areas, as they are an integral part of the national territory. The recovery of said territories and the full exercise of sovereignty, respecting the way of life of its inhabitants, and in accordance with the principles of international law, constitute a permanent and inalienable objective of the Argentine people”.

Call for PICTO 2021 Research Projects related to Malvinas, Antarctica and South Atlantic
The Secretary for Malvinas, Antarctica and the South Atlantic of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Daniel Filmus, along with the President of the National Agency for the Promotion of Research, Technological Development and Innovation (AGENCIA I + D + i), Fernando Peirano, and the dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Buenos Aires (UBA), Carolina Mera, issued the call for Scientific and Technological Research Projects (PICTO) on topics related to the Malvinas Islands, Antarctica and the South Atlantic, their geostrategic importance, sovereignty and national development.

Why are the Malvinas Argentine?

The British usurpation of the Malvinas in 1833 was part of a process of colonial expansion that at this stage tried to control the interoceanic passages.
The 1st transitory provision of the National Constitution states: "The Argentine Nation ratifies its legitimate and imprescriptible sovereignty over the Malvinas Islands, South Georgias, South Sandwich and the corresponding maritime and insular spaces, as they are an integral part of the national territory". It was voted unanimously and by acclamation in the 1994 Constituent Assembly. Why?

Travel Diaries - Antarctica Award: Launch of the writing and illustration contest for young people
The writing and illustration competition for young students "Travel Diaries - Antarctica Award" was presented by the Organization of Ibero-American States for Education, Science and Culture (OEI) and the Secretariat for Malvinas, Antarctica and the South Atlantic of the Argentine Ministry of Foreign Affairs aimed at students in their final years of secondary schools from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Uruguay and Spain.

Enhancement of movie facility in Antarctica
The only movie theater in Antarctica, "Espacio INCAA Latitud 90˚" will be enhanced after having reopened its doors last year. The cinema, inaugurated in 2005, was closed in 2018, reopened last year and will be further refurbish as a result of a joint effort by the Ministries of Culture, Foreign Affairs and Defense along with the National Institute for Cinema and Audiovisual Arts (INCAA).

More than 3,500 teachers from Corrientes received training on topics related to Malvinas, Antarctica and the South Atlantic
More than 3,500 teachers in the province of Corrientes have received training on topics related to the Malvinas Islands, Antarctica and the South Atlantic. The training sessions were developed as a result of a joint effort between the International Cooperation area of the provincial Vice-Governor’s office and the Argentine Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
