Argentina Assumed the Presidency of the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA)

On March 18, 2026, the Argentine Republic assumed the Presidency of the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA), an intergovernmental organization that brings together governments and experts with the objective of promoting education, research and the preservation of the memory of the Holocaust and the genocide of the Roma, as well as the fight against antisemitism at the global level.

TThe Argentine Presidency, which will be carried out under the motto “Expanding the Frontiers of Remembrance,” constitutes a milestone for the IHRA, as it is the first time that a country from South America assumes this responsibility.

By decision of President Javier Milei, the Presidency will be exercised by Marcelo Mindlin, in coordination with the Argentine Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and will have among its main pillars the projection of the IHRA in Latin America and the strengthening of access to archives related to the Holocaust.

Within this framework, the Argentine Republic reaffirms its commitment to memory, education and research on the Holocaust and the genocide of the Roma, as well as to the fight against antisemitism, with the purpose that their lessons endure across generations and transcend borders.
